Installing Outdoor Motion Detector/Light???

I'm replacing an old motion sensor/light with a new one. Here is the issue:

I removed the old fixture and discovered two sets of feed wires coming from the house to the fixture. First, black/white/green going to the light. And then separately, black/white/red going to the motion sensor. Six wires total.

The new fixture has only a black/white/ground. The motion sensor wires are "pigtailed" into the wires to the light.

How do I wire this new fixture to the existing wires?

I tried doing all whites together, all ground together, and then black (old light) and black/red (old motion) to the black from the new fixture.

With this configuration, I can hear the motion sensor clicking like it is working, but I get no light.

Any thoughts?

Installing Outdoor Motion Detector/Light???

kb, you think there might be something more to this?

There is a black and white cable and then a black, red, and white cable. The first cable was connected to the light and the second to the motion detector.

This is reminding me of a remote ballast or relay or something...

I can't see why both blacks and the red should be spliced straight thru.

Just to make sure I'm not missing the simple fix, I'm going to try a new bulb tomorrow!

That said, I'm guessing I've not got this wired correctly.

Any other thoughts are appreciated.
