Hello! (and Help please). Just possesed a 20 yr old home that does not have venting for air in both upstairs bathrooms. I guess code back then when there is a window in the room that can be opened - HOWEVER - as a Canadian winter is sadly "just around the corner" - and I will not want to open the window to vent shower moisture... looking at installing a vent fan WHERE ONE DOES NOT EXISIT. Plan is as follows:
a. install fan;
b. vent to and through soffit;
c. wire with 14/2 INTO EXISITING LIGHT SWITCH (i understand fan will come on every time light is turned on).
??? Then - how do I connect the 14/2 to the switch??? Is it really as simple as B to B and W to W?????
alternatively... what about putting a indiv switch to the fan? But then, the ??? becomes, "How do I get power from the light switch to the fan switch?
Other facts - baths are accesible from unfinished attic
- run of wire - approx 10'
- run of vent - approx 5'
I can do the instal no problem (carpentry) it's the wiring that confuses (and scares) the crap out of me!
