Installing Ceiling Fixture
Hi! I am installing my first ceiling fixture. The fixture has two white wires, two black wires and a copper ground. The house has only one white wire, one black wire and a green ground. Am I supposed to bundle all three black and all three white wires together? Or do I cap off one white and one black from the fixture and not use them at all? Thanks.

Sounds like your ceiling fixture has more than one function. Does it have a fan and a light? Or perhaps two sets of lights that can be switched separately?
The literature that came with your fixture (if new) should answer these questions. If that's the case, you can tie all three blacks together, and all three whites together, ground all the bares and greens to eachother and the box (if metal) and you'll be able to turn everything on from the wall switch. You just won't be able to control each function separately. |

Nate is correct....and just to add there should also be two pull cords: one to control the three fan speeds and a second for controlling the lights (assuming there are lights).....and a small slider switch which controls the direction of the fan rotation.....

If your fixture uses 2 bulbs, then you may have a set of wires from each socket.
If that is the case, hook both black wire from the fixture to the black wire in the box, then do the same for the white.
