Installing ceiling fan from scratch

I have a better idea of what to do now but it doesn t explain why I have so many wires.

I think that the tab isnt off the hot side just broken, which really mean that its still connected to the lower part.
Worst case I buy another one and meter the wire before reconnecting it.
Ill let you know later

Thanks for your info.

You have power in power out and a switched leg to power the switched portion of your receptacle. I would break the tab off completely between the hot terminals and then test. Sounds like your switch may be going bad.

Yes I will do that tonight take off the whole tab on the hot side and test it. Why is evstar talking about taking off the tab on the neutral?????
I thought only the hot side had to be off.

Do not remove the tab on the neutral side. That might result in some bad consequences.

What he said!!
Yikes. I'll be more precise in my posts in the future! What I meant was that I agreed that testing it all out would be extremely difficult in that configuration.

Ok are you ready for this..................................
I checked the tab on the hot side and it was off .
I then checked the voltage while a lamp was plugged in the upper part (switched leg) and it was 0 ish volt. When I unplugged the lamp its 96 volt.
The others xtra wires are just wired to my other bedroom . If I take them off I have no electricity in my other room. It looks like both bedroom are in series. I will buy another receptacle with screw today. It seems very basic after all 1 black (hot) , 1 white (neutral), 1 green (ground) for the lower part of receptacle. On the upper 1 red (switch) 1 white (neutral)
