Installed new chandelier, Bulbs flashing won't turn on

I just installed a new chandelier and used those energy star coil looking bulbs and when I turned the light switch on the bulbs flicker and flash but won't turn on. When I replace one energy star bulb with a regular 60 wt bulb everything lights up just fine. Did I do something wrong? Or could it just be an issue with these bulbs? Also when I put the 60 wt bulb in it lit up fine but had a line of shadow in the bulb. I'm so confused....

they're on a dimmer i'm guessing? You have to either get an electronic dimmer for flourescents or get special dimable bulbs if your going to have them on a dimmer.

It hit me this morning that the chandelier is attached to a digital dimmer switch... You are correct. I guess I'm gonna have to use regular bulbs instead. Shew at least I hooked everything up right. Thanks for your reply! :o)

they do make special bulbs that have a dimmable ballast in the base for dimming if your set on it...otherwise you would have to replace the dimmer with one special for flourescents
