Thanks for confirming my thoughts though.
And this mentality is why these clowns keep getting away with it. And that really pisses me off. I have always and will always encourage Electrician's and electrical contractors to challenge me if they think I'm wrong. I freely give out my cell phone number to anyone who asks for it. Whenever I make a mistake it costs the contractor money, not me. A phone call can save the EC money and me a return trip.

What did the building inspector say after drilling all those extra holes-- essentially weakening the integrity of the structure ?

I would have challenged him on that, knowing full well there is not any NEC requirement to back up his claim, AND doing so would weaken the overall structure of the house!

You could have sic'd the bldg inspector on him you know ...

I rewired two bathrooms a few years ago with a 20 amp circuit to each one. The inspector came out wrote a bunch of crap on the wall and disaproved it. I contacted the supervisor and told him what happened. He came out and checked it out. He said I did a great job, approved it and signed off the final before it was done. When he looked at the circuit box, he looked at the original permit that was still there and said, hey that was my dad that signed off the orignal. Always take porblems to the next level.
