I need some Aluminum Wiring help.

HI All

I have Aluminum wiring in my home. It was build in 1971. I want to install some dimmers and GFI outlets. What do you recommend: 1. buying aluminum rated outlets and dimmers. or 2. Buying a the dimmer and using aluminum to copper murrets with the paste inside of them?

I have been searching the internet for some videos or guides on this procedure. Have you done it before? Any tips or tricks you can share? I am going to try to do this myself.

thanks for the help.

What part of Canada are you in? Just for others, this post ties into anyone had to change a glass fuse box over to a circuit breaker box?

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

I have never seen a dimmer or GFI listed for use with AL in the US.

That performs the same function as your Marrettes, but is more like a terminal strip.

Aluminum may not be the best place for you to get your feet wet. The older AL was brittle and breaks easily.

A termina, which makes sense. Ill look around if there are some at the local hardware stores. I am going to go slow and see if i can learn to do this. I might also buy some aluminum rate dimers.
