I need a 200amp meter socket combo

Looking for suggestions on what brand 200amp meter socket combo to buy, it needs to have a main breaker and only 4+- circuits.

Go to Home Depot and Lowes and check out what they have. Siemens, GE, Square D seem to be the most common and all are fine. Look for a copper bus.

You can also call your power company for a recommendation. Depending on where you are located requirements may vary. Please put your location in your profile. We don't even know if you are in the US or Canada!

Look for a Homeline RC816F200CH combo box.

Home Depot has `em, and if not in stock at your loco store, you can order it and they will ship it to you for free.

Have you used any of the panels you have mentioned. I have been using the milbank units and I just noticed the homeline units you posted are $50 cheaper.

Around here, the poco has a list of meters that you can use.... so be sure to check that out.

Lucky thing around here it just has to be ringless. But a good idea for people to check their POCO.

Yes, we use them all the time.

Got several of them on hand in my shop right now. That way, I don't have to wait for them to ship it to me when we get a rush job.

Never had any problems with the Square D stuf

Homeline is Square D's residential brand. Very good stuff; used it in my house.

Have you tried any of the milbank meter mains. They looks just like the milbank ones I buy over or underground feed and over or under for sub seed. I think I am going to give one a shot. There is a supply house that stocks Square D will have to also price them there.

Nope. Too much $$$. Can't be competitive with their stuff.

The Milbank is not too bad for me but only one quirk is I have to watch the meter socket lugs make sure you do not overtoqure it. ( they can break without warning )

And the last part is make sure you watch the meter socket postion to make sure they are in correct postion if you get one of them off kinker you can overheat the lug behind the meter itself ( seems like smart meters are worst and it don't take much to smoke them )

The SqD is good one I have used them in both USA and France ( it will have different meter set up than what North Americain will be )

The costwise between the two is not that huge a spread but the key issue is I can able order a special socket quick so either way I can use them as long it approved per POCO specs.

Merci,
Marc
