I have a new "controller switch" for some pool lights but the wire colors don't match

The electrician from the pool company originally installed a 3-way switch, one by the house and one out by the filter equipment. I have since purchased a specialty switch where you can dial up the colors of the LED lights. The new controller has red, white and black wires.

The installation instructions show the white (from the controller) matching up to 2 white (neutral wires) from the box, the red from the controller connecting to the red from the box and the black from the controller connecting to the "hot" or black wire from the box.

Here is my problem... When I opened the electrical box, I had a regular switch connected to two blue wires, a yellow wire and the green ground.

Which wires connect to which?? HELP!!

Without seeing the actual documentation of the controller, I think you are going to need to rewire the 3 way switches so there is a constant power source. I doubt the controller is made to work in a 3 way system.

Assuming all the conditions laid out in the manual are met, you are going to need to rewire the switches. The controller requires a neutral, which you don't currently have at the location you are trying to install this controller. Without seeing the wiring behind the 2nd 3 way switch, there is no way to tell you how to install this.

I would call a local electrician to install this unit. There are a number of conditions the specs lay out in order to use this controller and I wouldn't feel comfortable giving you this information without verifying all those conditions are met.

If you are in Chicago area they have uquine colour format they used for indenfiy the circuit so therefore if that the case I will post the colour format in little bit.

If you are not in Chicago area then I will suggest that you get a hold of electrician due the pool system have pretty strict requirement so just want to make sure it done properly.

Merci,
Marc
