how to wire an electric heater

Okay, I bought a Dimplex EF621C electric heater. It just has two grey wires at the back and a ground screw. It says it is 2kW maximum load and can be hooked up 240 or 208 volt supply. It's the 240/208 part that's got me confused. I plan to run a 14/2 to the electrical box and hook each wire to either side of a double 20amp breaker and have no neutral. That's 240v right? Am I on the right track? What's the 208v about?

240 is what you get between 2 legs of a single phase, typically residential utility distribution 120/240 volt transformer.

208 is what you'll most likely see between 2 phases of a 3 phase, typically commercial distribution 120/208 volt transformer.

One thing I'd do is to install a 2 toggle thermostat as well... some thermostats only switch one leg of the circuit....

What you have very wrong is that you CANNOT use 14/2 on a 20A breaker, especially for a 2Kw heater.
You need to use 12/2.

Okay, I'll run 12/2.

When I install the breaker does it click in accross two buss bars or one space over so it's on one buss bar?

This heater has a built in thermostat for a circuit that provides up to 1000w and it also has a delay timer that, when activated, boosts it up to 2000w.

Install the breaker like the other single pole breakers in the panel. Make sure you get the right one for your panel. 20 AMP.

That should be DOUBLE pole breaker... it's a 240v heater...
