how to replace pull chain switch on ceiling fan lights
Is there a video that will show how to replace the pull chain switch on a ceiling fan? I have removed the "housing unit" from the fan. There is a white wire and a black wire that connects to the fan itself. On the pull chain there are 2 black wires. Not sure which wires on the "housing unit" to attach them to.
Since there are only 4 wires, 2 on the housing unit, one black one white that I know gets connected back to the fan. what wires do the 2 black wires on the pull chain connect to?
With just two wires on the pull chain switch, you connect the new switch the same way as the old switch. It does not matter which wire is which on the switch.
It gets tricky with multi speed or multi function pull chain switches, you have to refer to the instructions for the new switch and it is possible you have to take apart the old switch to find out what wire does what.
There are enough variations of pull chain switches so it is not practical to make a generic video of how to install one.
The good conscientious technician or serviceperson will carry extra oils and lubricants in case the new pump did not come with oil or the oil was accidentally spilled, so the service call can be completed without an extra visit.
