How to remove light bracket

We are trying to install a ceiling fan brace but the old light bracket is in the way. This is in a bonus room above the garage so no access from above. How the heck do we remove this? Seems simple enough to pry the staples out, but we can't reach them. We have tried wiggling the current brace to loosen them, but the brace is weak (aluminum?) And just bends. Any trick to getting them out or will we have to cut a new hole?

How to remove light bracket

The only thing I can think of is grab a hold of it with a vise grips or plier and hit it with a hammer.

Can the box be removed from the brace?
It just patience to remove them with out getting into the attic.

Cutting the brace in half allows you to work each piece back and forth until it breaks.

Can't see the pic, sure I am making assumptions.

We got the box off the brace no problem. It's trying to get the brace itself off that is the problem. The staples are really in there and the brace seems so light weight. We may have to buy a hack saw to cut it. We have a jig saw but would be afraid of getting sparks in the insulation.

But you are making the right assumption.

How are you going to get a hacksaw in a 4" hole? Invest in a sawzall.
