How to make outdoor fountain safe?

I put in an outdoor fountain. The plug from the fountain is about 4' long. I currently have it plugged into an outdoor extension cord which goes to an outdoor plub. I know this is not the right way to do it. What do I need to do to make this safe?

Run uf cable from the receptacle at the house, and put one close to the fountain.

Make sure that the circuit is protected with a gfci outlet or breaker---just to be safe.

4x4 post near fountain.
UF cable 24" underground protected at both ends with conduit where it exits the ground.
GFCI receptacle.
