how do i make a lamp

Sounds like you made a bad connection, used an improper part, or generally did something wrong. What type of bulb are you trying to use, and what kind of socket?

A picture is worth a thousand words.

What do you mean by "normal bulb"?

Screw-in bulbs are the "norm", unless your talking about fluorescent bulbs. I assume this must be a table top lamp and not a hanging or ceiling mounted light.

Heard a spark? You probably have a wire shorted to the case of the lamp or another contact. I'd open it up and check all the connections, look for any black marks in the fixture.

Heheh, I think I would unplug the lamp before I touched anything metal on it.
