How to cut old metal cable (BX)

I have a stray BX outlet on my new 2nd floor. the inspector says I can just cut it shorter, and cap it in a box with a plain cover (cut it shorter so its low and out of sight.)

How can I cut it?

Thank you.

How to cut old metal cable (BX)

BX can be cut with a hacksaw [course ya gotta remove the wires first] or even a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel.

There is a plastic insert that slips in the cut end when done to protect the wires from the sharp edges. Gotta have that for the inspector.

Then it can be connected to a box and covered with a blank plate.

You do not have to remove the wires, though using a hacksaw is fine. You do not cut completely through the bx just cut one surface wrap then flex the bx and it will seperate into 2 pieces. Most electricians use a roto cutter by ideal or greenlie.
