hot wire styrofoam cutter


yes I have a wired door chime Transformer and its got one green wire on one side one black wire and one white wire on one side and two black wires on the other side what side does the plug go on

You do know that any wire you can touch with power going through it, isn't going to get hot......right??

And only certain types of wire will get THAT hot anyway.


What's this have to do with a doorbell?

OR

What does your doorbell have to do with a hot wire cutter?

Really doubt if you have enough transformer there.

I made a rudimentary one once with a good sized battery charger, nichrome wire and pcv frame.

It worked but the noxious fumes were to much.

Variac works best for this. You can adjust the voltage while watching the wires colour.

You should be able to find a hot wire styrofoam cutter at a craft store. I used it to cut 2" foam and it was VERY slow going. Not worth the bother IMO.

We used those for cutting foam rubber insulation when wrapping heated pipes.

Worked well----

If you are making model airplane wings it's pretty hard to find a knife that is 2 or3 feet long.
