Hooking up a fire alarm

I recently pulled a fire alarm out of the wall of my apartment (it was going off at 3 in the morning for no apparent reason and wouldn't stop, it's an old Brooks system that is ungodly loud). The wires disconnected before I saw their configuration. I'm trying to reconnect it now. Four wires are coming from the wall, red, black, white and green. The back of the alarm has two clamping plates that you can tighten with a screw. One plate connects to a black wire, the other to a red wire. I know the red wire from the wall was connected to the red wire on the alarm because the tip of the wire was broken off and still connected. I'm assuming the black connects to black. I'm not sure what to do with the white and green wires. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Face the music...call the landlord. If there is a fire and someone is hurt, or the alarm fails because of something you did, you will find yourself in a world of hurt.
