Home Wiring CAD Software

I'm looking for an inexpensive (free) CAD program that will allow me to draw a simple home layout floor by floor (no 3D necessary), locate receptacles, lights, and switches, and number them by the breaker they are wired to.

I have tried several free CAD programs, but they all seem too complicated to use. I want something real quick. I am currently using Adobe Photoshop, which works, and I am familiar with it's use, but it's not very practical.

Thanks

I'm not sure that you need a CAD program for what you want to do. There is no compelling reason you need a scaled drawing to locate circuits. Just draw your floor plans proportionally with pen and paper and start labeling them. If it's a question of appearance, then a drawing program could accomplish what you need to do. Aside from that, I'm not aware of any easy, free CAD programs out there. Find one and let me know?

You're absolutely right. No need for a scale drawing. All I wanted to do is create a more readable version than I already have on paper.
I think I'll stick with Adobe Photoshop, because I already own it.

You can use Microsoft Visio. It allows you to attach the lines to the box, so when you move stuff around it stays connected. I found this free version with a quick google search...it looks like visio with a new interface, called "Diagram Studio"...have fun!

I'm still learning to use google sketch-up. It may do what you want.
