Hi Hat Measuring

Hey All,

I have a "Great Room" that measures 20 x 20. I want to place a bunch of 4" hi-hats in the ceiling (ceiling and walls are open). The room is not perfectly square. From one to another it's off more than 2"

I know I can center them between the joists but it seems to be that would be out of whack against the walls.

Is there something I can do to make it look right and inline. Lasers/laser level, etc. that could work.

Thanking you in advance.

You will not see a 2" difference if you balance it out over all the lights. Personally I'd keep the lights square and not worry about the 2" out walls.

Also personally I would NOT fill up a 20x20 room with 4" recessed.

OK thanks for the info. What do you recommend SP?

Well, a 20x20 room is a big wide open room. If you put the lights in a grid for even light and coverage it will look like a catering hall. Also, the smaller lights will not cover as big of an area as standard R30 cans. So you'll need even more of them.
I'd break the room down into areas and light each area differently. If the room is just one big open family type room then maybe the catering hall look will work.
How high is the ceiling?

8' Ceiling. I am going to use mostly as a media/Tv room. Big screen TV and the works.
