help wiring new fixture onto three way?

Hello,

I am trying to replace an older cheap fixture that is wired to a 3 way switch, I think.

the new fixture I am using is simple (1 black, 1 white, 1 ground).

unfortunately when I unscrewed the old wall fixture, it had 2 white, 2 black, and a ground curled up in the back of the box.

the old fixture has both whites attached to one side with 2 green screws (one for each wire) and then the 2 blacks on the other side with again 2 black screws for each wire.

I don't have the slightest idea of how to wire the 2 white 2 black and unused ground to the new fixture. I couldn't find anything comparable on the older posts on the web.

thanks for any/all help.

I'll bite. I don't understand the white wires and green screws, or black wires with black screws.

Are you saying the fixture had two white and two black wires, or are you talking about the house wiring?

How many lights are on that circuit. Could be powering more than one light

help wiring new fixture onto three way?

wish it were easier to post pics.

I hope this works..

top pic is the new fixture

bottom pic is the old one with strange? (to me) wiring.

there are 2 switches that operate this one light... making this a one fixture 3 way switch, right?

i'll send a pic of the box behind the outlet next.

thanks again!

The fact that your circuit is controlled by a 3-way switch is irrelevant.

Connect the blacks together, the whites together, and ensure the ground wire is attached to the ground wire in the box.

You should be good to go
