Help with wiring an Ikea ceiling light
 

Hello - I am replacing an old ceiling light with an Ikea Fado light. When I removed the old light, there are only two wires coming from the ceiling unit:; a black and a white. The ikea light has the following wires:

A Black
A White
A Green

and

A separate green and yello striped.

Does anyonen know how I would connect these to the existing black and white wires?

wire nut the green and yellow, and green together and pigtail to your ground screw in the box

(the green and yellow is an isolated ground wire)

If you have no ground in your house system the green goes nowhere.

in the US the green is a ground wire, in the UK green yellow is used. they probably just include booth grounds so they can sell same fixture everywhere

One likely goes into the fixture cord and one to the canopy.
