HELP!!! No power to light switch and cant find GFI's on that circuit!

Be kind folks I'm a newby here! I have a light in the master closet that doesn't work! I replaced the bulb, and light fixture and still nothing! I figured I'd back track and check the switch- no power there? I don't get it! How can it go out like that? I bought a switch to replace the current one but it doesn't mane sense to me to change it if there is no power to it! Any suggestions?

Did it ever work?
How are you testing for power?
Can you trace the wire back to it's source?

Yes it worked for a while then just randomly stopped. I checked for power with a circuit alert non contact voltage tester. Dead as a door nail in the whole box.

Here is the box with wires.

I have not been able to trace the line back to the source at this point. I am concerned bc I don't even know what's all on (or not on) that line.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes it worked but randomly stopped.

I used a non contact voltage tester to look for power. (Also used on a working circuit to make sure tester worked)

I have not traced it back to the source. Not sure where to begin? Attic?

Attaching pic of switch box. Not sure if needed but....

No tripped breaker or GFI's and everything else working. Where do I go from here? Fuse in breaker box? Junction box somewhere? Change out the switch? Frustrating!

Will do! Can I assume since closet is in the bathroom that they are on same breaker? I'll be okay killing power to that and double checking with voltage meter again?

No you can't assume anything. First wiggle the neutrals and see if light comes on...if light comes on undo wire nut and resecure neutrals together.

usually the power will come from a near by light or recepticule !
Have you checked the surrounding area ?
sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere !
