Help!!! My wife wants to buy a new washer and dryer

The continuity test is across the thermostat itself, not the wires. There should be only two terminals on the T-Stat. The easiest way to check this is to jump it out. Across the T-Stat. If it heats jumped out, then the T-Stat is bad. Be careful. Take a picture of the T-Stat and let us see, if you can.

I have never seen four terminals on a element T-Stat. Four wires maybe, but not four terminals. Look at the picture. Do the T-Stats look like these. (sorry best picture I could find) Round with oval shaped mounting bracket. Two screws. Mounted up against the wall of the element/burner housing. If what you are looking at does not look like the pictures, you are looking at the wrong thing. You're model looks to have two of them.

I have the Thermostat off the dryer. The red and yellow connections have continuity but the rest don't. Does that mean its bad. There are definitely four connections.

Ok guys I'm an idiot. I had the drum outlet. I found the thermostat. There are two wires. I took the wires off and there is continuity. So I'm guessing the ignitor must be bad. What do you think??????

Also check the safety (door closed) switch. You should get continuity when the door is closed.

Glad you found the T-Stat. Sometimes continuity is not enough to verify it's good. Take the two wires that were on the T-Stat and connect them together, or put a jumper across the T-Stat. See if the dryer heats. This will tell you for sure. You see the T-Stat is just like a switch.

The wires slide onto the thermostat so they have a special end. How do I connect the two wires? Can I twist them together and tape the metal ends together?

Do I have to put the dryer together or is there a way to see if the ignitor is working without putting everything back together?

Yes, Just for the test. They do make a coupling for the connectors you know? You could just touch them together. Being careful not to touch the terminal ends.

Don't put it back together until you are certain it is working. You only have the back cover off, right?

I do not know about igniter.
