Help a hungover guy clear his head. 3 way switch with pic

Ok, I drank last night for the first time in a while, Im honestly having trouble thinking straight today.

My father has existing wires in the walls where
Power comes in to the same switch that the light is wired to. He wants a 3way circuit. At the other switch, there is 3wire that runs into the first switch. So I guess it would be, power and light at beginning. A strange one. Anyway, I was thinking that if he carried power to the switch without the light on it with the red wire without tying power into the switch where it comes in, and connected the power to the common of that switch. He could then use the black and a coded-hot white from the second switch as travellers to the first. and connect the light to the common there and tie the neutral from the light and from the power source wires together and he's good. ANything wrong there?

It's just fine and nothing strange about it. Very common setup.

You've used different color conductors for travelers than is most common, but your circuit will work as drawn. It's a pretty normal set up.

Thanks, as far as the color choices, it was pretty much a blind guess. I am familiar with seeing

fixture at start of run
fixture at middle
fixture at end

This would be most like fixture at middle, except whereas all of these wires are already in the wall, the black from the fixture runs to the switch where the power comes in as well, unlike a typical fixture in middle setting I'm used to where it would run to the other switch's common. I think what happened here is that there was another switch in the circuit at one time, a 3rd. I hadn't yet seen power come in to a switch where the fixture's black wire had already gone to common of the same switch..... Thanks for the help.

Satsu, that is nothing like the situation I have. I have the light AND the circuit power source coming into the same switch box. I don't think I understand the whistling

1: Judging from your diagram that is exactly what you have. You are just using different colored wires.
2: The whistling was because I was offering you a simpler, more well drawn wiring diagram that was the exact same as the one you attached at the beginning of the post. It was a 'keep it simple' whistle.
3: If you have any questions about the content of my post or any general electrical questions I am happy to continue to help.
If you want to critique my use of whistles or smiles I will just mark this under the 'no good deed goes unpunished' category...

huh?? Who critiqued anything and who punished a good deed? I simply stated that It didn't appear to be a diagram and then asked what the smily meant. I'd never seen a whistling smiley and had no clue what it was used for.

I get now what you are saying about the diagram, it was confusing before that the black from the common of switch 2 was actually run into the box of switch 1 first. Ok, so you've switched the black and red and switched the power and the light from one switch to the other. I fail to realize how that is even a tiny bit simpler when its the same exact wires, only you connect two different wires together?? Also, the diagram you drew is honestly more busy and more confusing. I do appreciate the help though, I just wish you didn't get all testy for no reason. Just a note, if someone were critiqing you, they would most likely offer an alternative to what you did, not just ask you questions. Questioning is not the same as critiqing. Keeping that in mind might help you get along with everyone here. Any more questions I post, I would still appreciate your input. Everyone's for that matter.

I like that diagram you made. Is there a piece of software that will generate those?

Don't use the white as your traveler (from feed to dead end 3-way), but rather as the common and red and black as travelers

Here's a schematic drawing of how it works, Anyway(almost) you can make this happen is perfectly acceptable. By the way the light is off in this position, switch either of the yellow lines to the other traveler screw and the light will be on
