Help connecting range replacement power cord

4 Attachment(s)
The cord on my range needs to be replaced and I am unfamiliar with how how to remove connector piece from old cord and install on my replacement. I attached pictures to give a better idea of what type of connector I am talking about- the three wires insert into three holes but I need to remove/replace the small metal sleeve things that go on the ends of wires before inserting into the plastic connector end. Is this a piece I can buy at the hardware store and simply replace or is is something specific to my range and would need to be ordered from a parts store? Or better yet can the one from the old cord be reused on new one?

Looks like something specific to your range. Maybe you could just remove the connector and use some other method to connect the two.

I assume this is a gas range. I would cut the connector off the stove end and connect the cord to the stove wiring with wire nuts.

If you are not comfortable with that I would order the exact replacement cord (with connector) from the manufacturer.

Connecting with wire nuts

Thanks for the responses. Here is my next question- if I go with wire nuts and connect the cord is it ok that the connections will not be contained within a junction type box? I just installed a cord on my new dishwasher that way but there was a steel box with a cover on the underside of dishwasher specifically for this purpose. What are my options?

cut the old wire into a pig tail and put into this terminal strip and the connect your new cable to the matching color on the terminal strip, now you can change cords any time you need to.
