HELP! - Ceiling light wiring
Hello, I'm hoping someone with an electrical background can help me out with this problem. I live in Ontario and I am trying to install a ceiling light and have had no issue in the past, in our apartment I have already installed 3 roof lights and the wiring was easy, there was only 3 wires to deal with: 1 Red, one white, and one Green.
I opened this ceiling fixture to install another light and here is what I found:
1. Bundle of Black
2. Orange and Yellow connected
3. Red wire without an end running along inside of socket
4. Orange and yellow connected
5. Bundle of Green
6. Bundle of White
7. Orange wire
If anyone has an idea of which I should connect to, it would be greatly appreciated.
It looks like #5 is your ground, #6 is your neutral, and #7 is your switch leg you connect to. #1,#2, and #4 (#2 and #4 are the same) look like feed throughs. Also it looks like the original tales of the fixture up there are still hanging out of the wires.
That is what I am currently connected to, those are my wires hanging off the bottom. I'm not getting anything out of this configuration.
