Help ceiling fan/light switch wiring

The "old" switch on the right appears to be a remote transmitter, which works in conjunction with a receiver unit mounted in the fan itself.

Unless you remove the receiver, and direct-wire the connections at the fan, nothing will work, unless you replace the transmitter switch with another compatible unit.

Agreed. I think your best option would be to remove the transmitter/receiver combo, or go with a new set.

The remote transmitter has a fan and light switch on it...

Which switch controlled what in the past?

KB & Fuzz - thanks to your reply.
In the past, I only use the switch on the right to control both fan and light.

Since my new switch won't work. Which solution will be easier? remove the receiver on the fan or buy another transmitter switch?

I think that's a question you need to answer yourself.

We dont know where the receiver sits(likely in the fan canopy) or how or what it would take you to gain access to it.
We also dont know what is or is not compatible.
