i cant figure out how to wire my pool pump that is listed 115/230 i switched the plug on the pump to 115 but when i hook up the plug all the motor does is hum and get hot.....how do i wire this thing so i dont burn up the pump

Lets see if I understand.

You cut the 230 volt plug off the pumps power cord and replaced it with a 115 volt plug?

Did you also run the branch circuit wiring to the pump or is it existing?

I think he meant he switched the "plug"?????? from 230 to 115. Maybe a jumper or something to change the voltage. Since he says it hums and gets hot, I would think he has already fried the motor.

Kirk....Please look at the wiring diagram on the motor nameplate
