Help 220v 4 wire to 3 wire

Hi,

I hope somebody can help me out with this.

At work I have a 4 wire outlet (440vac three phase, green white, red and black wires) type 14-50R. I was told to make a male to 3 contactor 120/240v female adaptor, in order to connect a welder machine so we can keep using the 4 wire for a bigger welder unit as well. My questions is: How can I connect the wires to the 3 contactor? Is it the green, white and either red or black wire that will need to go to the 3 pin contactor?
Please advise.
Thank you
In other words I need my adaptor to go from this:

I hope you are joking on this one there is no straght blade plug or repectle for 480 volts system [ they have twist lock verison only ].
and the 480 volt system there is no room for error on this one normally this is resvered to commercal / industrail location only and this type of voltage you will never see in North Americia resdentail system at all.

however you will have pretty serious issue with this one because the second photo you show to us that repectle is 120 v 30 amp travel trailer recpectle set up.

do you own that welder or not ??

and the other reason why i ask you becase the key word is three phase welder is almost impossible to use in the resdential area due 98% of the resdential have single phase supply.

Merci,Marc

fhome, whatever you are doing STOP!
You are going to either burn up equipment or get someone killed.
None of what you said adds up or makes sense.

First off, there is NO "440v" any more.
Those pics are ALL wrong for what you are describing.
A 14-50R is a 120/240v single-phase 4-wire receptacle.

You say this is "at work". There is a 99.9% likelihood that it is illegal for someone with your experience, and no license and insurance, to do electrical work in a commercial/industrial setting.

Tell your bosses to hire a competent insured electrician!
