But last night one on my sockets in the kitchen decided it didnt want to work anymore and the whole of my bedroom sockets now dont work. Do you know if any of the receptacles are GFI? Check the kitchen, look for a rectangular shaped receptacle with 2 buttons labeled "TEST" and "RESET". Look all over the house... garage, dining room, etc for these type and see if any of them have tripped.

Like I said, it sounds like a GFI receptacle (outlet/socket). Do you have any plugs that have TEST and RESET buttons on them?

Have you verified that all of your curcuit breakers are on and not tripped or a blown fuse?

Faulty connection in one of the boxes where you installed the dimmers? Always start looking where recent work was done.
