may 2006 had company come out to house to see about short in basement light.
guy said i needed 4000 dollars worth of new breaker box etc ????
i am recent widow so said okay
the light he came to fix still doesn't work
there seems to be a short in it
he installed 2 lights either side of garage door with sensor for night
they worked great until yesterday
now they are both out
i don't want to call the scammer back out but would like the lights to work
what should i do????
Unfortunately the year warranty that most electricians honor is up on the two garage lights. I'm not clear on why the original light wasn't fixed. It is possible to troubleshoot both of these problems, but need to make it clear that unless you are comfortable doing the work, another electrician may be needed. When you say "short", do you mean the breaker trips when you turn the nonworking original light on?
I am sorry for your loss. I hate to tell you this but, I think you got ripped off. $4000 dollars because a light was shorted out or did'nt work? Even a new 200 amp service service would be less money than $4000 bucks.
Did he replace the service panel or just add a sub panel (extra panel)?
Where do you live? If I am close enough I will fix it for free. I live in SC.
