Don't you just hate lazy brakes?
But seriously, please do not post vague questions here. All we can do is speculate what you are talking about. Details people! Details!

It sounds to me like a screwdriver or two may have been involved in the proceess; maybe one of them stuck to the magnets.

If you want the magnets to work while humming you needed to buy the multi-tasking model, not the economy ones. . Or make sure they are happy.

Brakes require lyrics, humming alone will not work.

That was actually my first thought too, Cowboy, but you surely must agree that without some familiarity with them, it's a stretch. I thought by now we might have some more information, but in the absence of that, and assuming it is trailer brakes, OP, it sounds like you have power to them, so you're going to have to pull the wheels and take a look. If it has set for a while, you may be able to simply knock the cobwebs out, or you could have a seized actuator, etc., but no way to diagnose it without getting the drums out of the way. Once you get that far, they are really a pretty simle design; nothing that you should be wary of diagnosing.
