Has anybody had problems with those basement light fixtures?

You know those little circular ones that sometimes have the pull string?I have two of those and I noticed when hammering some romex connectors that the light got very bright, it looked like it was not a 100w anymore but a 150-200.
So I shut the circuit off (multiwire) and checked the connections, they are all tight, the only thing loose was this connector on the fixtures. Has any of you noticed how loose the terminals on those lights can be? I even got a new one...and that one was loose aswell.

You were hammering next to them? What happened is the vibration stretched the filament inside the bulb. Try a new bulb. I bet it will be back to normal. This has nothing to do with the lights themselves.
