Hardwire bath vent fan to light??

Tried to search for this but I guess the words are to vague and brought up a million threads.

I want to force the fan to be on when the bath light is on. The room is an inner bathroom with no windows so to use the bathroom the light has to be on.

Is there a reason from a code perspective why you cant do this?

Thanks

Robyn

No issues with this setup. Personally, I like a timer for the fan so it runs a good 15 mins after the user has left the bathroom.

Hardwire bath vent fan to light??

Perfectly fine code wise... as a matter of fact, some bath/fan light combo's that allow a heat lamp, are actually factory wired requiring both to be on at the same time.

Hardwire bath vent fan to light??

Thanks for the responses....Yes I would like it to be on timer but with a drama llama in the house I will at least be happy that she has no choice if its on or not.

Hardwire bath vent fan to light??

This set up is pretty common on either side of "pond" and also add a timer so that way you can have the timer turn it off after 10-15 minuites it done using the bathroom.

But be aware the junction box of the bathroom exhaust fan is not the best of roomwise at all so if you have seperated ceiling luminaire ( fixure ) run to the luminaire first then go to the exhaust fan so that way you can not get the fan junction box overcrowded.

Unless you have attic above then use the junction box and go from there so there are couple way it can be done.

Merci,
Marc
