Grounding an End of the Run Outlet for a Smoke Detector

Hi,

I've got a series of hard wired smoke detectors in plastic remodel boxes. Their connected via 12/3 wire. The detectors have a pre-fab pig tail that has only red, black and white wires. How do I ground the last outlet?

Smoke alarms are not grounded. Just leave the grounding conductor in the back of the box.

Tie the grounds together, but the end run only had one wire and no ground from the detector.

Jim is correct, just do like he says and you'll be fine.
