Grounding 100 Amp service

Hello, I have a question about grounding my 100 amp box. when I bought the house thee is a ground wire that is ran to the water line but the water line is copper not metal. Is this proper and if not where would I run the ground wire to and what gauge wire is needed? Thanks!

Since when is copper not metal? Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity. Thats why they make WIRE from copper.
Your question; Yes, its right. There should also be another #6 conductor (wire) going to a grounding electrode (ground rod) or other approved grounding means.
