Ground rod and ground wire question

Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, make sure you put the ground rod clamp onto the ground rod before you hammer it. The top of the rod will mushroom a bit and you won't be able to fit the clamp over it afterwards.

Use a little tape to keep the connector from sliding down the rod and into the ground. Also make sure the end is flush with the ground. It can't stick up.

Ground rod and ground wire question

Very helpful everyone! So my box was a cutler hammer and had 2 bars for neutral that were connected. It was simple enough to disconnect them from one another and screw one directly to the main box metal to metal to use for ground. Excellent idea that saved me a little loot and made the box look cleaner than adding another bar.

Last question, how far away from the subpanel do you drive the ground rods?
