ground rod in foudation
We are having part of our foundation replaced. The inspector told the contractor to make sure and have an electrician install a ground to the re-rod within the foundation. I have never heard of this. Our house is grounded on the back side by the electrical panel. This is not in the area they are digging the new footings.

Sounds like your inspector is asking for a Ufer ground to be installed in the new footings. This can be 20' of rebar or #4 copper in the bottom of the footing in contact with the earth. This would need to be bonded to any other electrodes in the grounding system.
