Grabbing power from a light switch box

I have been reading some of the old posts. Some posts seem to mention that you can use a light switch box to grab power and run another cable to another device. Is this right?

Let me describe what I am imagining.

I am running NM cable from my breaker box to a light switch junction box.

Instead of connecting the lead only to the light switch and its light, I can splice another cable onto the lead. That other cable can then go to another device (like another light switch on another wall).

If this is possible, how would all the wires (the lead wire, the cable going to another device, the wires for the light switch in the first box, and the wires going to the first light) all be spliced together?

Thanks for your time,

Red

Yes it's possible,Lets say you have 3 wires in your switch box.Wire nut your whites together, then wirenut your grounds and leave a pigtail to ground switch,That leaves 3 blacks the one going to the light put on switch the other two wirenut together with a pigtail and put pigtail on the last screw on switch.
