GFI question

[FONT='Verdana','sans-serif']I have a circuit in my house that is wired in such a way that 1 GFI outlet in the bathroom protects multiple standard outlets downstream in another bathroom and one outlet in the garage. My question is can I replace the standard outlets that are downstream with GFI receptacles as well, or is this pointless? If I do replace the downstream outlets with GFI outlets will it affect the functionability of the circuit as it is now?[/font]

Yes you can, but is pointless. It would not affect it at all.

An installation like this would violate code nowadays...bathrooms are supposed to be dedicated and 20 amp.

I would only go to rewiring if you had problems with hair dryers, heavy loads, etc.

One GF downstream of another makes troubleshooting difficult. You don't know which one will click off first.
