GFCI and garbage disposal
Is it necessary for a garbage disposal be on a gfci-protected circuit? If not, is it a good idea? It seems to me it would be, since I've always got wet hands when I flip the disposal switch.
While I'm at it, should a dishwasher be gfci-protected? Thanks. |
No. Neither one requires it. And given the fact that I do this for a living it is my opinion that neither one needs it either.
What does flipping the switch with a wet hand matter? What about the bath fan? Kitchen lights? Garage lights? All these areas you could have wet hands. |
Unless required by the manufacturer (I really doubt that), No.
