GFCI circuit resets but does not work
I've had problems with one circuit breaker in my breaker panel. It has a test button so I believe it is called a CFCI type. This circuit is for the outlets in the 3 bathrooms and an outside receptacle. Any time I try to use the outside receptacle the breaker trips. I can reset it but eventually it will pop again when I use that outlet. Finally it got to a point where it would not reset. Now it looks OK (no need to reset) but the whole circuit is dead. I've removed the outlet outside and capped each wire with a wire twist but the circuit is still dead. It seems to reset, it just does not work. Do you think the breaker needs to be replaced? Any other suggestions?
Breakers, like gfci breaker can only last so long.
You may have 2 problems, a bad breaker, and maybe a loose or bad connection somewhere in that circuit.
Thank you for the info. I think I'll start with the breaker and then see what is up with the circuit. One other question. What I said I did about taking the outside outlet out of the circuit. Should that be OK to take care of any problems it might of caused?
(I don't use it much anyway but the outlets in the bathrooms are definitely in use.)
