Garage Lighting???

I'm almost done mudding my 2 car garage and am getting ready to install a load of light fixtures.

How much light should I need in a small (21' x 23') garage w/ 10' ceilings?

I was thinking eight 2-tube t12 4' fluorescent fixtures. Is this overkill?

Would it be worth spending $80 more to get t8's instead of t12's??

What about can lights instead??

PS- I plan on using the garage to finish building and working on my street/strip hotrod.

Eight 2-tube 4' lights is the minimum, using the simple 1 watt of fluorescent light per square foot guideline.

Garage Lighting???

I'd go with T-8's
Is there specific area where the car will be while you work on it ?
One issue is the hood will usually block a lot of light
Some people have mounted a set of lights at an angle on the ceiling to direct lights down & under the hood
Others use a portable light setup for more light

Garage Lighting???

I have a 24x30 workshop with 8' ceiling. General lighting is provided by six 4' two bulb flourescent fixures. A corner work bench gets another same light fixture directly overhead, as does a assembly bench floating in the room. Also there are two reeled worklights that hang from the ceiling - at the ready to be pulled down and put direct light where needed.
