Garage door remote

What can be the reason my garage door remote won't let the garage door down, and why do i now have to hold the button on the wall until the door goes all the way up or all the way down?

Something is wrong with the sensing elements located on the door rails near the floor.

What he said. Most commonly the sensors the bottom of the door on each side have either been bumped out of alignment, or their lenses are dirty. The lenses need to be clean and pointing directly at each other.

Or, Up/Down Force and/or Travel needs to be adjusted. Google your make/model or get out the instruction manual to adjust these. Usually screws on the motor box on the ceiling are where these are located.

im having same issue, but the lights for the remote sensors are lit up to show they are working, and the up/down force doesnt seem to make a difference...there was an issue with the sensors, but like i said...the lights are on
