Furnace problems

My Ruud furnace will not turn on. Worked fine last spring, but it seems something has gone wrong over the summer. I am geting continuity on the ignition device, and to the pressure switch, when activated. Thats as far as I have gone. But still no luck. Any ideas?

Furnace problems

I don't know what specific furnace you have, but...

On many natural gas furnaces, there is a pilot light and a device to detect that the pilot light is lit. This is typically a "thermocouple".

If the thermocouple does not detect that the pilot light is on, the furnace will not light. This is for safety. You wouldn't want natural gas filling up your house!

So basically no heat detected, it shuts off the gas.

And it is common for these thermocouples to go bad.

Furnace problems

It would be helpful if you could give a little better discription of what it is and is not doing. There are just to many different things that can cause a furnace not to work.
