Flush Mount Ceiling Fans

I had two flush mount celing fans installed by an electrician, but I noticed that they are not all the way up to the ceiling. There is a gap of about 1/4" between the ceiling and the top of the fan.

I don't want to sound picky, but shouldn't a "flush mount" celing fan be all the way up to the ceiling? I have an old house, so the ceiling heights are only 7'8", so it is pretty noticable, escpecially when the light is on (you see the shadow).

My Hunter ceiling fan had 4 rubber grommets (feet) which act as vibration isolators and spaced the fan down from the box approx. 1/4".

Most of the Hunters I have installed lately come with a trim ring that snaps over the cowling to hide the screws and close the gap. Is it possible this was left off?

HH, I doubt it...I know exactly what the OP is talking about. The anti vibration thingies hold the Hunter down from the ceiling a tad. If you remove or forget the pieces of rubber the damn canopy won't install.

HH, I have never seen those for flush mount fans. Most Hunter canopy fans do have a trim ring though.

Pretty much every "hugger" fan I have ever installed has had a minute gap at the ceiling. Yes, 1/4" is minute.
