Flouresent Lighting help

Okay so I finally going to learn how to wire a lighting fixture with some help. The item in question is a Lithonia lighting wrap lite that I got from Homedepot. It is rated at 120 volts, 60 hz, and at 0.80 amps. There are three wires leading from it, the gauge is 18 awg. I have some auto wire 18 gauge but it says its max is at 13 amps by 156 watts. What I want to know if its feasible to use this wiring or should I go back and buy the right wire as is states the supply must be rated to at least 90c.

Also how does it go
Green to ground
Black to gold
white to silver Correct?

Flouresent Lighting help

I'm trying to wire a circuit to a plug in which it connects to a outlet which might be connected to a extension (unless make a hole in the wall) that is connected to a another outlet (length of 7 ft cable) on the ceiling of the garage. What I want to know is the cable that I got, which is a Dorman/Conduct Tite, automotive wire gauge 18, will do the job in this application. In addition to this what sheathing product should I buy to properly protect this wire. What is the best stuff they got at homedepot or other store comparable to that. I hope that this clears things up.

You need NM cable. #14 if the existing circuit is 15 amp, #12 if the existing circuit is 20 amp.

Thank you, rjniles. Can I just check the circuit box to find out the appropriate amp config?

15 or 20 will be engraved on the breaker handle feeding the circuit.
