Firestat for whole-house attic fan

Hey folks,

I'm rewiring our whole-house attic fan... It's a Sears unit and works fine, but the prior owners mickey-moused everything electrical that they could, so I've ripped out all of their old wiring including the old overtemp protector. They had it disabled, anyway.

So, now I need to find a new firestat device, which is proving a lot more difficult than I expected. My usual electrical supply house basically gave me a "you want a what?" when I called, and the typical big-box home improvement stores seem to carry a dodgy selection of thermostats that may or may not include overtemp protection.

I've googled until I'm blue in the face, and I just don't seem to find an overtemp protector for this type of application. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms, I don't know. I'm hoping some of you have added or replaced a firestat device for an existing fan or ventilator that could suggest one.

Thanks so much, folks!

Benny

Ask for a hi-limit control.

Firestat for whole-house attic fan

A firestat can be included in certain thermostats. A couple examples:
