Finishing Basement and need a review of the plans

K. I'll put the light/fan in the bathroom on the GFCI, which will be on it's own dedicated 20A regular breaker. I'll put the existing lights onto a new AFCI AND also verify there are only the 6 lights on that circuit. If so (which I expect as that circuit is labeled "basement lights west") I will also put the hallway lights on the same circuit and save myself some room on the common area circuits.

Thanks a lot for your help ....I really appreciate all the comments from you and the others in here. Time to update my drawings and start making a shopping list.

Finishing Basement and need a review of the plans

Months and months have gone by and my plans have changed. Actually much simpler now...no more den/office and instead just a storage room. Bathroom got downgraded from a full to a half because I really need to access the upstairs drains and the run along the top right side of these plans so I made a "crawl space" that has full access to the plumbing above. I've finished all the walls, 95% of the electric, and started drywalling a month or so ago. Goal is to have the walls fully done (taped/mudded/painted), electric fully done (other then future drop ceiling lights), and windows/doors in and finished/molded by Thanksgiving and then worry about the drop ceiling and floors after.

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions...this really is a great site for information.

Finishing Basement and need a review of the plans

I just wanted to update this. First I got the walls done and painted and everything looks great. Second my basement flooded a month ago and I had most stuff on the floor as I was reorganizing getting ready to do the floor. A DVD player, a good receiver, and my treadmill were all on the ground along with lots of stuff that was getting stacked on the floor in my storage room. Got about 6" total and this electronic stuff fully submerged. However both the AFCI circuits that this equipment tripped. I rinsed out the stuff with cold water, let it dry for a few days, and everything still works perfectly. I'm sure with a standard circuit breaker it wouldn't have tripped as soon (if at all) and ruined everything so it was definitely worth the extra investment for the AFCI's. Also I've had 0 "nuisance" tripping so for in the year they have been in. Not sure if the technology has just gotten better but I've very happy with mine (Siemens 20a AFCI's).
