finding unused wires from breaker panel

I was looking in my breaker panel and found a 20 amp breaker that was labeled back porch, but was crossed out and said not used. Everything on the back porch works, what would be the easiest way to find those wires running to the not used breaker?

Breaker on or off?

I find breakers listed like that all the time.

Open the panel and see if the breaker has a wire on it.

The breaker was on, I turned it off and there's a wire hooked to the breaker, I was wanting to find the wires and reroute them to the bathroom for a wall heater.

Follow that wire up to where it exits the panel and try to visually track where it goes.

It might just be easier to run the new cable and skip messing with the old stuff.

Is it cable or thhn in conduit. If you can isolate the wires, hot neutral and ground from the panel, then you can attach a tone to the wires and find it with a probe. The tone generator must be used on an UNenergized circuit.
